Royal Engagement puts Gems in the Spotlight

Here at simply Fabulous we absolutely LOVE Kates new bling, especially as it may instigate a resurgence of gem stone popularity. Our very own Myka Design range does some fabulous work in this area too. Many magazines seem to agree, read an article we found in Jeweller Magazine below:

The oval blue sapphire engagement ring of British royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton has sparked a resurgence in gem-set jewellery and heirloom pieces.

Nicola Cerrone of high-end jewellery retailer Cerrone believes Middleton's status as a fashion icon will prompt many young women to consider the use of sapphire in rings and gifts.

Since the engagement, Cerrone has received increased enquiries about coloured gemstones.

He said, "I think this engagement will influence Australian couples to consider coloured stone rings and family heirlooms as engagement rings."

He believes the industry would positively benefit from people acknowledging that jewellery pieces could be lifetime investments with superior craftsmanship and sentimental value.
